This 1er Cru appellation of Vosne Romaneée is not the most easily understood. It is close to Richebourg.

There is depth, richness, structure, and a certain austerity in this wine. It is true to itself and nothing more. More cerebral than hedonistic, this wine showcases a great terroir. It is a much more introverted wine than its neighbor ‘Les Suchots.’

The domaine farms 2 parcels in the lieux-dit ‘Aux Brûlées’ 0.1750 ha and 0.0947 ha (0.4324 acres and 0.2340 acres).

These parcels were planted in 1939 and 1944 respectively.

• One parcel, oriented west-east, is situated on a lightly-sloped terrace. The soil is fairly shallow, some 30 centimeters separate the surface from the bed-rock, making the work of replanting rather complicated.
• The second parcel, planted on a steeper slope, is located a little farther into the valley that links Vosne-Romanée with Concoeur.
