March 2025 Winter work continues
In the vineyard…
After a dismantling phase (removing everything unnecessary), when all the wood has been removed and crushed, it’s time to go through again to clean the rods and hooks.
Traces of the mildew disease that affected the vines last spring are still visible.
The wood is blackened in places and if you make a cut, you can see that the passage of sap has been interrupted. However, there is still one side for the sap to circulate, and the buds will undoubtedly be fed.
At the end of February, the pruning wounds (the ends of the shoots) are weeping. This weeping is the first sign that the vine is waking up after the winter. On this stage, the vine is said to be weeping. The vine begins to draw water and sends sap to the ends of the branches. This is the rehydration of the buds.
As soon as weather and soil conditions are good, replanting is done in some parcels.
In the cellar…
Barrel vintages are constantly maintained and monitored.
Racking of the 2023 vintage is continuing.
